I am a sociologist of religion specialising in Islam in the UK and religious and nonreligious perspectives on science. On the ‘Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum of Global Perspectives’ project my main responsibility is to manage the qualitative research across six countries. Prior to this I worked as Research Fellow on the earlier ‘Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum’ project, interviewing life scientists and members of the general public in the United Kingdom about their beliefs, identities and perceptions of evolutionary science. Alongside my work on the project, I am Co-Primary Investigator of the project ‘International Research Network for the Study of Science and Belief in Society’ (2019-2022) and Primary Investigator on the British Academy-funded study ‘The Nature of Islamophobia in Contemporary Britain’ (2020-2021). More about my research, including a list of my publications, can be found on my University of Birmingham page or on my personal website.
