Historian of science and religion

Peter Harrison is Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the University of Queensland.  Previously he was the Idreos Professor of Science and Religion at Oxford.  He works in the area of intellectual history with a particular interest in historical and contemporary relations between science and religion. He has been a Visiting Fellow at Yale and Princeton, is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities, a founding member of the International Society for Science and Religion, a corresponding member of the International Academy of the History of Science, and was an Australian Laureate Fellow, 2015-19.  He gave the 2011 Gifford Lectures and was the Bampton Lecturer at the University of Oxford in 2019.  Author of over 100 articles and book chapters, his seven books include The Territories of Science and Religion (Chicago, 2015).  For the SRES project he will studying science and secularization.
