Thank you for your interest in the “Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum of Global Perspectives- Australia” project. We are developing a database of interested participants for research regarding people’s attitudes towards and beliefs about religion and science. Before you decide to participate in this survey, it is important for you to understand what it will involve. Please take time to read the information on this page.
By filling out the following survey, you are indicating your interest in participating in future studies, and researchers may contact you for future studies that you qualify for, based on your answers to the questions in this survey. Once you have completed the pre-screening survey, you will be able to see studies that you are eligible for when you log into this site.
This project will run from February 2018 to December 2022.
Who is running the study?
This study in Australia is being led by Dr Tom Aechtner (University of Queensland) with support from Dr Stephen Jones and Dr Rachael Shillitoe (University of Birmingham).
We understand that people’s time is valuable, and while we cannot pay everyone who takes part in this pre-screening survey, everyone who completes the survey will be entered into a draw for one of forty $20 Coles Group & Myer Gift Cards.
Who can participate?
We are seeking to hear from people with a wide range of views and backgrounds, but all participants must be aged 18 years of age or over. No other criteria have been set and participants are not required to have any particular level of understanding of the topics.
How long will it take and what will I be asked about?
This survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. You will be asked questions about your personal demographic characteristics, as well as some questions about your thoughts on science and religion.
Can I change my mind about participating and withdraw?
Participation in this survey is voluntary, so you can choose to opt out at any time while taking the survey without giving a reason. If you choose to withdraw, all identifiable data and your responses to the survey questions will be safely removed and destroyed. If you complete the survey but change your mind about participating in this project, you can withdraw up to two weeks after completing the online questionnaire. Contact Dr Tom Aechtner (email@example.com) and he will be safely remove and destroy any identifiable data and your responses to the survey questions.
